The Borough Council is where all 54 elected Councillors meet together. Its main role is to agree the annual budget and policy framework of the Council within which the Cabinet, as the main decision taking body of the Council, then has to operate. The Council is also responsible for all of the functions that are not the responsibility of the Cabinet. Any Motions/Petitions/Questions need to be submitted to the Chief Executive or the Monitoring Officer by no later than 12 noon, ten working days before the day of the meeting (not including the day of the meeting). Borough Council meetings are now available to watch online: visit www.southtyneside.gov.uk/boroughcouncil.
