Overview

Places of Welcome are run by local community groups who want everyone in their neighbourhood to have a place to go for a friendly face, a cup of tea and a conversation if and when they need it.


Support available

  • An accessible and hospitable building, open at the same time every week
  • A place where people actively listen to one another
  • Open to everyone regardless of their circumstances or situation, and staffed by volunteers
  • Offering free refreshments (at least a cup of tea and a biscuit) and basic local information
  • Debt and money advice
  • Budgeting support

How to access the service

Places of Welcome can be found from 11am -1pm at:

Mondays - Action Station, Boldon Lane

Tuesdays - St Peter's, York Avenue

Wednesdays - St Simon's, Wenlock Road

Thursdays - St John the Baptist, Nairn Street

Babies and children welcome, with highchairs and changing facilities at all locations
