Overview

All Councils must keep and publish notice of "key decisions" at least 28 clear days before they are made. The notices are available for public inspection.

The Key Decisions Plan contains the notices for upcoming key decisions, and will be updated on a rolling basis.

The plan helps people to find out about major decisions that the Council is going to take, giving them a better opportunity to have their views made known.

What a key decision is

A key decision is one which:

  • Involves expenditure or savings over £250,000; or
  • Is significant in terms of its effects on communities living or working in an area comprising two or more electoral wards in South Tyneside

What is included in a Key Decision Plan

The plan is in two parts:

The first part is a summary list indicating all of the key decisions that are to be made.

In addition to the summary list there will be individual sheets for each key decision listed in the summary, giving notice of the following details:

  • When the decision will be made
  • What decision is to be made
  • Who will make the decision
  • On what date or period within which the decision will be made
  • Who comments should be made to
  • Whether the meeting will be open to the public or held in private, and if in private, the reason(s) for this
  • What documents will be available in relation to the decision, when and where from

Inspecting the documents
