Overview

This service is provided by Humankind Charity (funded by South Tyneside).

They offer friendly and practical support on sexuality and / or gender. This includes the opportunity to meet other young people for support.

They will talk to you about your needs, and agree a support plan tailored for you.


Support available

All reasonable adjustments are based on a young person's needs and on a case-by-case basis. 

All staff are fully trained in speech, language and communication needs.

The service can help with:

  • one-to-one sessions 
  • sexual health guidance
  • support to access clinical gender identity services
  • the opportunity to meet other young people to share experiences
  • support for your family, either one to one or together
  • hate crime reporting
  • fun activities and sessions such as sailing, meals, climbing, etc. in a safe space

Training and workshops

The services deliver training sessions for professionals and young people.

Who can access the service

You can access the service if you:

  • are aged 11 to 25
  • identify as, or are questioning your LGBT+ status
  • live in South Tyneside

How to access the service

If you are under 16, we will need consent from your parents for you to access the service.

The service can provide support in person, in your home or in a school or community setting, over the phone or online.
