NHS health checks

This release showed the number of offered and uptake covering the period of 2019 / 20 to 2023 / 24:

  • In South Tyneside, the percentage of eligible 40 to 70-year-olds invited for a NHS health check was 42.7%. This was significantly worse than the North East (64.4%) and England (69.1%).
  • In South Tyneside, the percentage of eligible 40 to 70-year olds who took up an NHS health check was 38.4%. This was significantly better than the North East (37.3%) but worse than England (40.6%).

Respiratory Disease Profile

One local indicator was updated to 2022 / 23 in this update of the , this was:

  • In 2022 / 23, the rate of emergency hospital admissions for respiratory disease was 1,862 per 100,000 for South Tyneside sub-ICB location. This was similar to the North East (1,857) but was significantly worse than England (1,336).

House Prices

The released data showing localised average house prices, monthly rent, price paid by first time buyers and price of houses bought with a mortgage. The data was collected up to May 2024 for three indicators, and June 2024 for one.

  • The average house price in South Tyneside was £161,000 in May 2024. This was an increase of 3.1% from May 2023. This was slightly lower than the North East rise of 3.7% over the same period.
  • The average private monthly rent in South Tyneside was £632. This was an increase of 9.7% from £576 in June 2023. This was higher than the rise in the North East (5.9%) over the year.
