Â鶹ÊÓƵ is calling for the public's help to track down those responsible for illegally dumping waste in the Borough.

The Council is investigating after a significant amount of kitchen and bathroom waste was illegally dumped in Temple Park in South Shields. It is thought the latest incident occurred over the weekend.

Councillor Joan Atkinson, Lead Member for Area Management and Community Safety, said: "It is hugely irresponsible to dump waste in this way and blight the beauty of our public spaces.

"We will simply not tolerate this reckless behaviour of a tiny minority of people. However, we need the public's support. We would urge anyone who recognises any of the items to get in touch with us."

Councillor Atkinson added: "A vehicle must have been used to transport the waste on at least three separate occasions over the last two weeks. We would encourage anyone who can help in providing  a description or registration details to contact us."

To provide information or to report any flytipping incident please visit  or contact Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Customer Contact Centre on (0191) 427 7000. All calls will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Residents are reminded that they can legally and safely dispose of their rubbish at the Recycling Village at Middlefield Industrial Estate in South Shields. The Recycling Village is open every day except Christmas Day. The facility is usually open between 8am and 6pm.
